The Ecuador Chronicles - 2010-21
Centro Cultural Metropolitano;
Multiple, Ever Changing Art Exhibits;
And A Good Place for A Quick Lunch
by Ray Almand
Even if you are not a museum lover you may enjoy a visit to Centro Cultural Metropolitano in Quito. It is located just across from the Southwest corner of Plaza Grand, and admission is free. It is said to be on the site of an Inca palace. It was a Jesuit school and later an army barracks. The building has been beautifully restored with large rooftop terraces and there is a cafe for a quick sandwich just off the interior courtyard.

There are normally two or three art exhibits on display. You can take a quick look and see if any of the exhibits appeal to you. I stopped by a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed myself. There was one display of photographic art by Ecuadorian artists and another on communication, with an Ecuador slant. Below are a few photos of what was on display.
